The film follows Brooklyn-based artist Beyoncé Armstrong’s first-hand encounter with gentrification in her community, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. She first became aware of the changes in the mid-2010s, noticing a shift in the community’s demographic. Brooklyn has shaped her identity, as it is the only place where she and her family share memories and have built a legacy over generations. Ironically, through her artistry, she is preserving the culture she once knew Bed-Stuy to embody.
