SUBOA-MAKING THE CALL is an unforgettable historical film about SUBOA Basketball Officials. It tells the story of how 8 men from Harlem blew the whistle for equality in basketball. These trailblazing men changed the game of basketball, paving the way for future generations.

SUBOA stands for Sports United Benevolent Officials Association and has been preparing men, and women, for basketball officiating for over fifty years. Current members, and past graduates, officiate on the NBA, NCAA, JUCO, and High School levels. The filmmaker and members of the organization will be in attendance for Q & A.

This story also documents the fraternity of basketball officials, Sports United Boro-Wide Officials’ Association- SUBOA, who’ve refereed, and supervised, competitive youth, and adult, basketball games throughout New York City.
