SUBMISSION FAQs

Film Festival entries must be submitted on NTSC DVD.  Foreign films must be dubbed in English or presented in their original language with English language subtitles.

In addition to your entry, please enclose film synopsis, film stills, press release, etc. any press kits, reviews, or publicity materials if available.

How do I submit a film?

You film can be submitted two ways:
1. Log on to our Dropbox page https://dropbox.yousendit.com/THEPEOPLESFILMFESTIVAL and follow the instructions for entry.

We will notify all filmmakers via e-mail once their film has arrived and been processed. For this reason, an e-mail address is REQUIRED with your submission.

2. Send us a clearly labeled DVD for review, per the instruction on the submission form. Don’t forget to include your name, film title, film ID number (see submission form) and contact information on all submitted materials. A Press Kit, including is strongly encouraged.
All films should have been produced after January 2009.

What formats will you accept for previewing?

We accept region 0 or region 1 NTSC DVD screeners and secure online screeners. We do not accept VHS tapes.

What formats will you accept for exhibition?

Film formats accepted for exhibition: We accept DVD (DVDs must be Region 0 or 1 and NTSC format.) We cannot screen films in PAL.

Foreign films must be dubbed in English or presented in their original language with English language subtitles.

What running time do you consider a feature film or short film?

Films with a total running time over 30 minutes are considered a feature film. Films 30 minutes or less are considered short films. This rule is strictly observed.

Do you accept works in progress and rough cuts?

Yes. We will consider rough cuts of films as long as a completed version will be available by the final week of March 2013.

Can I send in an updated version of a submission I already sent in?

Yes. Please let us know if the film is a new version when you send it in and we will swap it out.

What should I include with my submission?

Please make sure your film is labeled, both on the disc and case, with the title, contact name, and e-mail address. If your film is a rough cut, please label it as such and list what needs to be completed.

An e-mail address is required with your submission along with a contact name and title.

If your film is accepted we will need a press kit and digital still photos from your film if available.

Do not send a film copy with “FOR SCREENING PURPOSES ONLY” protectors. If your film is selected, your preview submission copy will be used for exhibition screening.  Also, please do not send us your master copy.

What kinds of films do you accept?

We accept all kinds of films and are not limited to one genre or another.

Are there any films the festival will not accept?

We will not accept music videos, PSAs, commercials, or promotional films.
Films/videos that have received national U.S. network television airing (including cable) prior to the Festival are not eligible.
Films/videos that are available for viewing on the internet are not eligible.

Will screeners be returned once decisions are made?

No, we are unable to return screeners. Please do not send master copies.

Do you provide feedback if a film is not accepted?

Unfortunately we are unable to provide feedback on individual entries.

What categories do you screen your films in?

Feature Narrative, Documentaries, Short Narratives, Shorts Documentaries, OWS, Experimental, Animation
(Categories are subject to change.)

Winners will be announced during the “People’s Media Awards” on Saturday, June 1, 2013.

SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION:

When will decisions be made?

Official Selection notices will be sent out on a rolling basis starting in March. Final decisions will be made and announced at the end of March 2013. An exact date is not available.

ALL Filmmakers will be notified via HIGH PRIORITY e-mail about final decisions. If no e-mail address is provided, no notification will be sent.

The Peoples Film Festival Selection Committee makes Programming decisions. If accepted, we will notify filmmakers by email. After acceptance, the presentational format must be received prior to April 1, 2013. Be sure to indicate any special screening/presentation information. We do not pay rental fees for submitted work that is accepted.

What If My Film Is NOT Selected?

You will be notified via EMAIL if your film has been not been selected

Does TPFF have any premiere policies?

We do not have any official premiere policies, films screened at other festivals domestically and abroad may screen at our festival. If you are submitting a film that has already been publicly screened you must disclose this information including date, city, country, theater etc. along with your entry form

Submissions may NOT be withdrawn from The People’s Film Festival once they have been entered, except at the sole discretion of The People’s Film Festival.

Can I submit multiple films?

Yes. Each film must be on a separate DVD or videotape. 2 Copies Please! WE REQUIRE ALL ENTRANTS TO SEND 2 COPIES OF THEIR FILMS AT THE SAME TIME, IN THE SAME PACKAGE.

Each entry must be accompanied by a completed entry form. Print two copies, one for yourself and one to enclose with each film sent.

AGREEMENTS

Submission of your work confirms that the People’s Film Festival has permission to exhibit your film(s) during the Festival and/or at any other Festival event. Submission of a work implies that the Festival can employ moving image excerpts and reproduce stills for exhibition promotion. Credit will be given to any filmmaker, screenwriter and/or game developer if such material is used in Festival promotion. Original copyright holder retains all rights to their work.

TPFF reserves the right to make any necessary changes in event scheduling or programming. The selection committees’ decisions are final.  All responses by The People’s Film Festival (TPFF) will be made by email.

 

TPFF SUBMISSION ENTRY FEES 

 

Payment for film submissions should be made in US dollars and by PayPal.  A completed entry form and an entry fee must accompany each film.
